  • 13 Steps

About

Welcome to a kid-friendly journey into the history and culture of the Bay Mills Indian Community. In this program, we explore Gnoozhekaaning, which means the Place of the Pike. You will learn about the Anishinaabemowin language, the Seven Grandfather Teachings, and the important role that fishing plays in the community's history. We also tell the story of the brave people who fought for their treaty rights and how the tribe manages their land and schools today in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
