This kid-friendly module introduces the history and culture of the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa, also known as the 'Strong Wood' people. Students will learn about the three distinct land areas of the reservation: Nett Lake, Deer Creek, and Vermilion. The course explores the importance of the sacred Nett Lake, the traditional harvesting of wild rice, and how the community works to protect their natural resources and Ojibwe heritage for the future.
